Văratic Gorge
Văratic Gorge is a natural monument of geological and paleontological significance, covering an area of 21.3 hectares. Its formation began hundreds of thousands of years ago due to the action of the Ciuhureț stream, a tributary of the Ciuhur River. At the base of the gorge lies a Badenian-aged reef mass composed of coral skeletons, foraminifera, mollusks, lithothamnion algae, and other aquatic organisms.
Văratic Gorge is perfect for hiking, photography, and geological exploration. Nearby, you can also visit Lake Costești-Stânca, as well as the Duruitoarea Gorge and caves located in the same region.
